ADAU commemorates Khojaly genocide victims

A series of commemorative events dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of the Khojaly genocide were held at the Azerbaijan State Agrarian University (ADAU). The event, which took place in the administrative building, was attended by the university's faculty, students and living witnesses of the Khojaly tragedy.

The event began with the playing of the National Anthem and a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs.

Speaking, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Ahmad Malikov drew attention to the fact that the Khojaly tragedy was part of the ethnic cleansing and occupation policy historically carried out by Armenians against our people, and said that the Khojaly tragedy, which went down in world history as one of the most terrible acts of genocide, is a chilling example of the ethnic separatism, hatred of other peoples, and terrorist ideology carried out by Armenian nationalism for hundreds of years, which is shameful to humanity.

In his speech, the head of the Department of Social Sciences, Elgun Aslanov, said that the Khojaly tragedy is the bloody memory of the Azerbaijani people, as well as the path of struggle and freedom that they have been going through for centuries. The head of the department emphasized that thanks to the decisive policy of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, and the courage of the glorious Azerbaijani Army, our occupied lands, including Khojaly, were liberated and entered a new stage of development.

Associate Professor of the Department of Social Sciences Sevda Abdullayeva emphasized that informing the world community about the Khojaly genocide has always been among the important directions of President Ilham Aliyev's activities and spoke in detail about the exceptional services of our state, First Vice-President, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva in promoting this terrible crime at the international level. Second-year student Banuchicek Atakishiyeva recited the poem "Khojaly". At the end, a video clip reflecting the Khojaly tragedy was watched.

At the events held on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the Khojaly genocide at the faculties of Engineering and Soil Science and Agrochemistry, speakers spoke about the inhuman atrocities committed by Armenians against the peaceful residents of Khojaly, women, the elderly, and children.
